MAUI AQUARIUM

Opened in 1998, the Center, located on three acres at Maalaea Harbor between Kihei and Lahaina, has one of the largest collections of live Pacific corals in the world, outdoor tide pools, and a 750,000-gallon Open Ocean exhibit with a 240-degree acrylic tunnel.  It is also the largest tropical reef aquarium in the Western Hemisphere. This is the Center’s mission statement: “To foster understanding, wonder, and respect for Hawaii’s Marine Life.”  No whales or dolphins are exhibited at the Center, in compliance with a Maui County ordinance.
