North Maui Real Estate

 

 

Located on the windward side of Maui, the North Shore is known for magnificent vistas, rugged shorelines, undeveloped beaches, spectacular surfing, windsurfing, and kitesurfing.  You won’t find mega resorts here, no fancy golf courses or huge condominium developments, at least not yet. What you’ll find instead are friendly people in a laid-back tropical paradise with great restaurants and cafes, artsy boutiques and shops, and a kind of ‘60’s hippy vibe …but not too hippy…the real estate market is reliably active with pricey listings and world famous upscale Mama’s Fish House is reliably booked solid for lunches and dinners.

 

It’s difficult to definitively lay out the exact boundaries of the North Shore because parts of it can also be considered parts of Central and Upcountry Maui, but generally it stretches from Huelo in the east to Spreckelsville in the west and includes Hookipa and the communities of coastal Haiku, Kuau, and Paia; at least these are the most recognizable areas appealing to those who want less development, less people, less crowded beaches, and cooler days.

 

“The Road to Hana” covers a long stretch of the North Shore before entering what is referred to as East Maui.
